In Comm 100, I have learned the depth of the future career that I will be taking. At first, it was vague and confusing because of my different perception to media. When the first theory was presented(The Hypodermic Needle Theory), I have agreed to it instantly because of the reason that I knew that media is really powerful. But when Uses and Gratification Theory was lectured(which by the way answers the first question what I have learned best in COMM), my view was changed. I have learned that the audience plays an essential role to the relationship of media and its audience. I have learned that if I'll be a media practitioner, I should be responsible enough in taking things into considerations and keep in mind that I have a smart audience. And why Uses and Gratification? It is because I have learned that in media, you are not always the boss. I should consider the people that I'll be feeding, and with these restrictions, it'll help me in becoming a responsible person of media.
COMM 100 didn't just improve my perception to media but it changed it. Before, as an aspiring media person, I thought that its all about eloquence and intelligence, but then again I've found out that there should be an add-on--responsibility in the atmosphere that I'll be working on.
At this point, I'm still undecided on what particular area in MC that I'll be taking. But after a lot of turn-downs in writing, I took it as a sign that I'm not for that league. Though I would prefer to be a broadcaster someday, I will still write something for my job, and writing, for me, will be inevitable forever. In my opinion, the two are quite the same(writing and speaking), they only differ in the manner of delivery. Though quite confuse, I still believe that I will find the answer by continuing the strenuous study of my course and weigh the area that I'll be more reliable for my future career, and the nation that I'll be serving.
